Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks and Bush Steps FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks and Bush Steps

What sandstone products do you supply?

Kimberley Sandstone supplies B Premium Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks, B Grade Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks and Quad Sawn Sandstone Bush Steps direct from our Australian quarry.

What sizes are the Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks?

Our Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks are available in the following approximate sizes:

• 500 x 500 x 1000 mm

• 500 x 500 x 2000 mm

As sandstone is a natural product, dimensions and weights may vary slightly.

What sizes are the Quad Sawn Sandstone Bush Steps?

Our Quad Sawn Sandstone Bush Steps are available in the following approximate sizes:

• 1000 x 500 x 180 mm

• 2000 x 500 x 180 mm

Dimensions are approximate and may vary slightly due to the natural characteristics of sandstone.

What does Quad Sawn mean?

Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks are cut on four sides: the top, bottom and both ends. This produces more consistent approximate dimensions and helps the blocks sit evenly and stack neatly during installation.

The front and rear faces retain the natural character and appearance of the sandstone.

How are the Quad Sawn Sandstone Bush Steps cut?

Our Quad Sawn Sandstone Bush Steps are diamond sawn on the top and bottom, with wheel sawn edges. Each step has one natural face and one profiled face.

Which face of the sandstone block should point out?

We generally recommend installing Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks with the most suitable natural face pointing out.

Some blocks may have one profiled face and one natural face, while others may have two natural faces. The natural face usually provides the most attractive and consistent sandstone appearance once the wall is completed.

The profiled face can show more obvious machining marks and surface variation, so it is generally better positioned toward the back of the wall where practical.

Which face of the bush step should point out?

We recommend installing the bush steps with the natural sandstone face pointing out.

The natural face provides the most attractive and traditional sandstone appearance. The profiled face is generally positioned toward the rear or concealed within the surrounding landscaping.

What is the difference between B Premium and B Grade sandstone blocks?

B Premium Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks generally provide a more consistent appearance, with fewer visible imperfections and less variation between individual blocks.

B Grade Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks may display greater variation in colour, texture, natural faces, edges and surface appearance. They are suitable for projects where a more varied and rustic sandstone finish is acceptable.

Both products are cut using the Quad Saw process and are supplied in consistent approximate sizes.

Will every sandstone block or step look exactly the same?

No. Sandstone is a natural quarry product, so variations in colour, texture, markings and surface appearance should be expected.

These variations are a natural characteristic of genuine Australian sandstone and help give every completed project its own unique appearance.

Can I select a specific sandstone colour?

Products are generally supplied in the sandstone colours available from the quarry at the time of loading.

Please discuss any colour preferences with our sales team before placing your order. Specific colours or a perfectly uniform colour cannot be guaranteed.

Are all blocks supplied with a profiled face?

No. Some Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks may have a profiled face, while others may have two natural faces.

We do not guarantee that every block will have a profiled face. For a more consistent completed appearance, we generally recommend installing the blocks with the most suitable natural face pointing out.

What transport options are available?

Depending on the size of your order, delivery location and site access, we can arrange transport using a body tipper truck, a truck and quad combination, or a semi-trailer forklift truck.

A body tipper truck is generally suitable for smaller loads. The sandstone is unloaded by carefully tipping the products from the truck at the delivery site.

A truck and quad combination can carry a larger quantity of sandstone and is suitable for bigger residential, commercial and civil orders where site access allows.

A semi-trailer forklift truck carries a vehicle-mounted forklift that can unload the sandstone at the delivery site. This option requires suitable access, firm and reasonably level ground, and enough space for the truck and forklift to operate safely.

The most suitable transport option will depend on the products ordered, total quantity, delivery address, access conditions and unloading requirements.

Do you deliver throughout Queensland?

Yes. We can arrange freight for Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks and Bush Steps to locations throughout Queensland.

Freight availability and pricing depend on the delivery location, quantity ordered, site access, unloading method and the most suitable truck type for the delivery.

Can sandstone blocks and bush steps be delivered together?

Yes, sandstone bush steps may be transported with an order of Quad Sawn Sandstone Blocks, subject to product availability, truck capacity and delivery requirements.
